Hands On: Home, Health, and Education

January has been here and gone and oh, what a month it’s been! I’ll do you all a favor and save you from the personal matters that were included in this month. Many tears were shed. Instead, I want to focus on something positive.

I’ve heard someone mention time and time again that something changes when you turn 27 and you have a clearer idea of what it is you want in life. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not, but what I do know is I’m 27 and my thoughts have been clearing up in the last few months.

I’ve been thinking, as I often do, that if my life could have any purpose or mission, it would be to positively impact the areas of home, health, and education by taking a hands on approach.

For a very long time, I’ve held the belief that the work done in a home is some of the most important work out there. Except, I’m realizing that the home doesn’t have to just involve your family and what happens within your house, but also what we contribute to the world and how we treat the planet. It is all of our home, after all. I want to be a better participant and encourage others to do the same.

In regards to health, I’m learning that mental wellness contributes just as much as regular exercise and eating right. For me, health involves staying activity, eating as balanced as possible, keeping your head in a positive place, and engaging with nature. Most of those are a regular work in progress for me, but I always want to keep trying and helping others who are on a similar path as me.

Now if there’s anything I was put on this earth to do, it is to teach and encourage the minds of children. I love those lightbulb moments of seeing them get it. My problem is, I don’t agree with the current education system in America and can’t imagine myself teaching in a traditional setting. However, this doesn’t mean that I can’t have an impact. I would love to work towards making learning fun, varied, and interesting for all ages.

If you’ve been here a while, you may acknowledge that not much of this is all that new of information. I get it. What this all means for the blog is that my focus may be shifting. While I do love sharing my thoughts, which I’ll continue to do, I want to put more time and effort into promoting the things that mean the most to me. I hope you’ll stay around and continue to read along!
